Fall is coming. As nature slowly curls into its hibernation, we still sense something new beginning. The soul is recharged, and the mind is open not only to peaceful routines but also to something inspiring. In this period heading towards darkness, we can harness opposing forces: the warmth of encounters, presence, and quiet beauty they bring. ..Syksy saa. Luonnon käpertyessä hiljalleen horrokseensa, me tunnemme kuitenkin jonkin uuden alkaneen. Sielu on jälleen latautunut ja mieli avoinna paitsi rauhallisille rutiineille, myös jollekin innostavalle. Tänä pimeyttä kohti kulkevana ajanjaksona voimme valjastaa käyttöömme vastavoimat: kohtaamisten tuottaman lämmön, läsnäolon ja hiljaisen kauneuden.
Helsinki Design Week will take place from 8th to 17th September 2023, and the main event location this year is the over-century-old Merikortteli in Punavuori. The sixth floor of the building will host the main exhibition of the event, which addresses the theme of a good everyday life: changes and possibilities in work and living spaces. Woodnotes is part of the exhibition ensemble, in good company. ..Helsinki Design Week järjestetään 8.–17.9.2023 ja päätapahtumapaikka on tänä vuonna Punavuoren yli satavuotias Merikortteli. Rakennuksen kuudenteen kerrokseen sijoittuu tapahtuman päänäyttely, joka käsittelee teemaa hyvä arki: työn ja elämisen tilojen muutoksia ja mahdollisuuksia. Woodnotes on mukana näyttelykokonaisuudessa, hyvässä seurassa.
The curation of the sixth-floor exhibition in Merikortteli is led by Ulla Koskinen, the editor-in-chief of Asun magazine, and the exhibition architecture is designed by architect and designer Lauri Johansson. "The exhibition aims to stimulate, provoke thoughts and emotions. Good spaces speak. They don't function solely in words but also resonate on an emotional level. In a good case, you don't even notice the space, it just works and feels good," explains Koskinen, the curator, in an interview for Helsinki Design Weekly. ..Merikorttelin kuudennen kerroksen näyttelyn kuratoinnista vastaa Asunin päätoimittaja Ulla Koskinen ja näyttelyarkkitehtuurista arkkitehti, muotoilija Lauri Johansson. "Näyttely pyrkii herättelemään, antamaan ajatuksia ja tunteita. Hyvät tilat puhuvat. Ne eivät toimi pelkästään sanoilla selitettyinä, vaan myös puhuttelevat myös tunteiden tasolla. Hyvässä tapauksessa tilaa ei edes tajua, se vain toimii ja tuntuu hyvältä", kuratoinnista vastannut Koskinen kertoo Helsinki Design Weeklyn haastattelussa.

During the same week, in Pasila, the annual Habitare event awaits with its encounters. Woodnotes is present alongside Nikari in a shared stand 6b40, where we present not only novelties like the Willow rug but, of course, our beloved evergreens. This year's theme for Habitare, "Together," addresses the challenges of our time in multifaceted ways. While we face the global concerns that touch us all, it's especially important to act responsibly, respecting our environment and each other. ..Samalla viikolla Pasilassa vuotuinen Habitare odottaa runsaine kohtaamisineen. Woodnotes on mukana Nikarin kanssa yhteisellä osastolla 6b40, jossa esittelemme paitsi uutuuksia kuten Willow-maton, tietenkin myös rakastettuja ikivihreitä. Habitaren tämänvuotinen teema Yhdessä käsittelee aikamme haasteita monitahoisesti. Kaikkia meitä koskettavien huolenaiheiden äärellä on erityisen tärkeää toimia vastuullisesti, ympäristöämme ja toisiamme kunnioittaen. Habitare 13.-17.9., Messukeskus.
In September, a exhibition will open at the twentytwentyone gallery in London, where we will share the space with Nikari and Japanese companies Maruni and Ozeki & Co. Shared aspects between Finland and Japan have often been pondered: we are far apart but, in many ways, like neighbors. With the curated participants of the exhibition, we particularly share a similar value foundation, a passion for enduring beauty and quality. The exhibition, on display from 19th to 24th September 2023, is part of the London Design Festival. ..Syyskuussa Lontoon twentytwentyone-galleriassa avautuu näyttely, jossa saamme jakaa tilan yhdessä Nikarin sekä japanilaisten Marunin ja Ozeki & Co.:n kanssa. Suomen ja Japanin yhteisiä nimittäjiä on pohdittu usein: olemme kaukana toisistamme, mutta monilta osin kuin naapuruksia. Näyttelyyn kuratoitujen toimijoiden kanssa jaamme erityisesti samankaltaisen arvopohjan, intohimon pysyvään kauneuteen ja laatuun. 19.-24.9.2023 esillä oleva näyttely on osa London Design Festivalia.
