All of Woodnotes' products are produced without any compromises.

The journey of a paper yarn carpet to a living room is long and eventful. The raw material grows in the lush forests of the north for decades. The trees are felled and processed into certified paper, which is spun into paper yarn. The yarn is dyed with colors that do not contain organic halogen compounds or heavy metals. Sustainability has been ensured at all stages of production, in line with the UN's sustainable development goals program. A share of sales revenue is donated to the protection of forest biodiversity. All products made of paper yarn are made in Finland.

Paper yarn continues on into the weaving of textiles, the finishing work and finally the packaging of the product. Most of these operations take place in Kauhajärvi and Lapua - a weaving shop and a sewing shop - which are only 26 kilometers apart. Woodnotes has also, for almost 20 years, collaborated closely with an Estonian sewing shop, that skillfully makes eg. the cover for our k chairs. Local production provides a seamless, uncomplicated and communal process: communication is actively maintained between different parties allowing a unique flexibility in production. Flexibility, but also humane warmth and a special sense of significance.

In all paper yarn products the carbon that the tree stored in its trunk, branches and roots continues to be safely stored in the material for as long as it is in use. At Woodnotes, design is material oriented: the natural power of the paper yarn and the eternal peace of the forests lie at the heart of the whole company. Other Woodnotes' products are made of wool, linen, cotton (OEKO-TEX-certified), leather (OEKO-TEX-certified) and recycled polypropylene fiber made in Italy. European oak and ash are used to make the wooden furniture.

In some cases production is further away. It is especially important to ensure the high quality of the product not only in terms of material but also in terms of production. For example, the production of hand-knotted wool rugs requires a strong and specialized tradition of craftsmanship. The know-how required for the manufacturing of certain products can't be found in Finland. Our foreign subcontractors have been our loyal partners for years. For tufted carpets, the expertise is located in Estonia, for wooden furniture in Poland and Italy, and for wool carpets in India.

With timeless design and by choosing materials with quality-conscious professionalism, we respect the environment and our home.
