Woodnotes wanted to add an elegant shade of brown to the grey tones that dominate its latest In/Out carpet collection – to bring more warmth and depth to the colour palette. “It took us a long time to find the right shade of brown,” says Minna Ahokas who works in design and product development at Woodnotes. Since In/Out carpets can be used both indoors and outdoors, the perfect brown had to suit both the intimate setting of the home as well as outdoor spaces, such as terraces and the poolside. The colour had to blend well with various wood surfaces, pair beautifully with stone and form a harmonious combination with all the shades of green in a garden. Not too red, not too dark.
Finally, we found the suitable colour, and Soft Brown was born. “It works beautifully with the shades of grey that were already in the collection and adds warmth to the range of options,” says Ahokas. The gentle tone of Soft Brown evokes a sense of late summer transitioning into early autumn.
Surface structure with a warm feel
The new colour of the In/Out carpet makes the rug a perfect fit for an even wider variety of spaces and atmospheres. In/Out is ideal not only for wet areas and outdoor use, but also in the kitchen and in families with children and pets, because it is highly resilient and easy to wash. The Soft Brown colour is immediately associated with nature and its calming effect, which is why the carpet creates a harmonious atmosphere in the space around it.
The material is 100% polypropylene fibre, which feels as warming as wool under your feet thanks to the special yarn structure. “We wanted to minimize the shine of the new Soft Brown In/Out carpet so that the beautiful surface structure really stands out,” says Ahokas.
As with all Woodnotes textiles, the In/Out carpet is made in Lapua, Finland, and the manufacturing process of each carpet involves several stages of craftsmanship. Many of the craftspeople at Woodnotes have worked with our products for decades and mastered various finishing techniques to perfection.
